Why is there so much hate towards facial piercings?

I posted a question asking what type of uncommon piercing (facial) should I get, and I got really rude answers, and even got told to be a ';normal person'; and get a life. Why is there so much hate towards facial piercings, or any type of piercings?I find these people rather fearful or close minded.Why is there so much hate towards facial piercings?
People are just intolerant. I'd much rather be unusual and one-of-a-kind than a ';normal'; person with no way to express myself.Why is there so much hate towards facial piercings?
Personally, I see piercings as a degradation of the body and therfore tasteless and disgusting. BUT, I understand people get them to express themselves, and I'm OK with that...

Most people think they are just for attention because now you can get them done professionally the pain that used to go along with them and make them worthwhile is gone. So they lose the life changing effect they used to have. Now its just a paid for and medicated statement that you wish to be different
I love the idea of piercings. Sometimes they can be impractical though, like I love the vertical labret, but it would make eating/drinking harder. That's the only reason I wouldn't get one, also, if it did reject, I would hate the scars.
