What is the best way to take care of really dry facial skin?

Ive tried it all and it does not help....is there some kind of method or cream that can help eliminate all this dry skin i have on my face. Sometimes some of the methods just make it more noticeable, causing the dry skin to flake out. Any ideas? What is the best way to take care of really dry facial skin?
First of all you need a good cleanser for dry skin, something creamy. Then you need to exfoliate! That is the only way you are going to buff off that top dead layer of flakes. After that you need a good toner for dry skin to restore moisture. Once you've done that you need a thick, rich moisturizer for dry skin to keep the moisture in your skin all day. Stay away from products with clay, as those are meant only for oily skin and will just dry your face out more! Tonics or toners are no longer made with rubbing alcohol, they are made with denatured alcohol, which is a cosmetic alcohol that helps to restore the pH balance to your face immediately.

I use everything by Origins (http://www.origins.com) for my dry skin and I have had the best skin in years. Good luck! What is the best way to take care of really dry facial skin?
I totally know what you're going through. It's been in the single digits here and the cold weather is definitely taking it's toll on my skin. My dermatologist recommended that I use a really gentle cleanser (like Dove) to wash my face, and a moisturizing cream at night and a lighter one during the day with SPF.

Don't use any toners or astringents--that will just dry out your skin even more. And if you use any acne treatments, cut that back to using them every other day.

At night, I use Cetaphil moisturizing cream ($6 for a big container, available at any drugstore). In the morning, I use Eucerin face lotion for sensitive skin with SPF 30 (about $5 at any drugstore).

The most important thing is to limit the amount of face-drying stuff you use. And be sure to try to shield your face from any cold if that's possible.

Good luck!
Use a clay mask (get the clay powder) and mix it with cucumber, avocado and honey. Make a paste and apply on your face about 30 mins once a week. After taking the mask off, apply toner and your moisturizer.

Also, drink lots of fluids, it sounds like your skin is dehydrated.

You can find the clay at www.clayforlife.com
Common ingredients in lotions like alcohol and lanolins can worsen dry skin.

You could try using an exfoliator and a moisturizer - the exfoliator would remove the skin flakes and the moisturizer would prevent new breakouts. If you're willing to spend the money, go to a clinique counter at a department store and they will set you up with a regimen.

Try asking your pharmacist for Lac Hydrin, a moisterizer which is kept behind the counter but avaiable without a prescription.

For myself, I use Eucerin cream. Eucerin sells a bunch of beauty products, but the plain old cream is best. It feels heavy and goopy but doesn't seem to give me acne. I've found it to be the best treatment for severly dry skin.
Well l have a good answer to this question... you can go to any dept store and buy Nivea cleanser plus you can also buy cream to put on your face as well but get the Nivea light cream.. this is a light moisturizer and l use lt and lt works perfect on my face. you will be amazed how well your face softens up. lt leaves my face nice and soft and smooth. lm a 45 yr old and my skin looks like a 15 yr old. l love this cream. lm never gonna stop useing lt. lf this doesn`t start to work give lt some time cause this stuff does work
