Can a root canal ever cause permanent facial swelling?

I seem to have thickening on and inside the cheek where I had a root canal done years ago. I don't know if it was always like that, or if the root canal caused it. What do you think, and on what do you base your opinion? Can a root canal ever cause permanent facial swelling?
As a dental professional, I would urge you to see your dentist to have that checked. It is unlikely to be related to the root canal if the thickening/swelling is on the cheek. If it was the root canaled tooth, then the gum tissue above the tooth would be involved. Go see your dentist. Can a root canal ever cause permanent facial swelling?
SUE,SUE,SUE!

P.S. NICE MAM'S ANNE
