In the future I would like to get facial piercings done.
I know that you 'conservative' types will totally disagree and post not to get it, so don't bother answering or I'll block you.
Anyways, I want to work in a job with biology, genetics, lab work, or maybe computer sciences, maybe even the video game industry. Will having facial piercings effect me in those job areas? Is it possible to work in a science field with facial piercings?
Get real, no one in there right mind would take you seriously, and hire you with any piercings on your face. On your body, you can always hide, but when it comes to working in the real corporate world everyone has to conform. Maybe, the video game industry that isn't stuffy may look the other way. But, I doubt it most of the places are business casual and still corporate when it comes to their hiring regulations.
I've worked with people that were in your situation and also had tattoos are along their arms. When it came to work they covered their arms and took off the piercings.
-HonestlyIs it possible to work in a science field with facial piercings?
Sure, I've seen people in the science field (I think the science part of anthropology) with a mohawk. Another guy was all goth looking as well (or is that emo these days?). I think you'll be fine.
Whenever going to an interview in any job field piercings and tattoos are looked down upon, mostly because the people hiring you are not from that type of era. The area you are looking at though seems to be a research based, not customer based. If you do not have a piercing in for the interview you could feel out the ideals that they have towards that, but I feel it would be alright, body expressions like piercings and tattoos are not as taboo as they used to be so hopefully your expressions will not be discriminated against.Personal expression should be taken seriously.I say get it, but be careful duing interviews.Good Luck
What you want is for someone to approve and tell you that it will be no problem. However, that's just not the case
If you want to drastically limit your ability to be taken seriously or get a good job then by all means put holes all over your face.
Apparently you want to be successful and have a great job, right? The best way to do that is not to handicap yourself.
Forget the piercings, you will never miss them.
